The Illinois Audubon Society
   
 Helping to preserve the flora and fauna of Illinois since 1897. Hickory Hills is a chapter within IAS. This website offers lots of good information on birding activities around the states and has a great links site.

Shoal Creek Volunteers
    The stewards of the Shoal Creek Conservation Area on the east side of Lake Lou Yaeger in Litchfield. Many area residents are members of both Hickory Hills-IAS and Shoal Creek Volunteers and there is a great deal of cooperation between both organizations.

Montgomery County Natural Area Guardians
   is a subcommittee of the Montgomery County Soil and Water Conservation District. The group is interested in preserving and adding open, natural areas to the pubilc domain.

Anderson Prairie
 
  Just a few miles up the road is an outstanding 25-acre restored sanctuary, the work of many years of loving attention. Visit it on the web and then visit in person, at Pana!

Emiquon Audubon Society
    "Promoting appreciation and understanding of nature and supporting the conservation of natural resources" and another chapter in the IAS not far away in Mason and Fulton counties. Check their website for dates of their many activities.

    Very busy IAS chapter with lots of varied activities.

Treehouse Wildlife Center
    TreeHouse is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of Native American Wildlife.

Byron Forest Preserve District
    BFPD is an active outdoor education and recreation area with lots of great activities for all members of the family.
